The SAFF Under-20 Championship-winning Bangladesh team is set to arrive in Dhaka at around 6:35pm today and will embark on a trophy parade in the capital on an open-top bus.

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) announced the bus parade through a press release today.

“The Bangladesh Under-20 national football team, winners of the SAFF U-20 Championship, will be welcomed with a celebratory open-top bus parade from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport,” the press release read.

“The parade will begin at the airport and conclude at the Hatirjheel Amphitheatre. A formal reception for the champion team will be held there at approximately 7:30 PM.

“As part of celebrating this historic achievement in the country’s football, supporters and the general public are invited to take part in the parade and the reception ceremony,” it further read.

The champion team will also be welcomed at the airport by State Minister of Youth and Sports Aminul Haque.

The open-top bus parades have now become a regular celebratory gesture in Bangladesh football following success in marquee tournaments.

The first football team to receive this honour was the SAFF Women’s Championship winning Bangladesh side in 2022.

On Friday, Bangladesh defeated India 4-3 in the penalty shootout in the final to lift the title in Maldives.
