North Korea beat Brazil to move into U-17 WWC final
Yu Jong Hyang scored both goals as DPR Korea defeated Brazil 2-0 to advance to the final of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Morocco 2025 on Wednesday.
The victory took the defending champions to within a match of lifting the coveted trophy for a record-extending fourth time, with tournament newcomers Netherlands - who edged Mexico 1-0 in their last four tie - their opponents in Saturday's final.
After an even start between the sides, things tilted in DPR Korea's favour towards the end of the half when a Pak Rye Yong shot struck the arm of Andreyna on the Brazil goal-line.
Video review confirmed both a penalty and a red card, reducing Brazil to 10 players and earning the Asian side a spot-kick, which Yu calmly converted in the 44th minute for her seventh goal of the tournament.
Yu (pictured above) netted her second shortly after the restart when she controlled an attempted headed clearance with her chest and then fired into goal in the 51st minute.
DPR Korea then easily saw things out the rest of the way to not only win their sixth match in a row but also extend their unbeaten run in the tournament to 15.
