BFF president's club will not play in BCL

Star Sports Report

The upcoming Bangladesh Championship League (BCL) is going to be a 10-team competition after Bangladesh Football Federation president Tabith Awal's NoFeL Sporting Club failed to complete players' registration formalities on the final day of extended transfer window on Wednesday.

Arambagh, NoFeL, Farashganj and Little Friends Club were allowed an extended deadline, which ended at 12pm on Wednesday, to complete their players' registration.

While Arambagh, Farashganj and Little Friends Club completed their registration within the timeline, NoFeL SC did not turn up, meaning their obvious omission from the country's second-tier football league where they have been playing for the last few seasons.

"We did not get any advice from the club president [Tabith Awal] after informing him about the development a couple of days ago, which is why we did not take part in the registration formalities," said the club's general secretary Shakhawat Hossain Bhuiyan Shahin, also a BFF executive member.

The league is scheduled to get underway on March 4.
