Bangladesh thrashed 6-1 by Maldives
Bangladesh’s hopes of a strong showing in the SAFF Futsal Championship were dented as they suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat to Maldives in their second match at the Hua Mak Indoor Stadium in Bangkok on Friday.
After a promising 4-4 draw against India in the opener, the men in red and green were outplayed by an experienced Maldives side, who raced to a 4-1 lead in the first half. Kazi Ibrahim Ahmed pulled one back for Bangladesh after they had conceded four goals inside the opening 16 minutes.
Maldives maintained their dominance after the break, adding two more goals to seal a comfortable win. Despite creating a few chances, Bangladesh failed to capitalize, while Maldives, coming off a 7-1 win over Pakistan, showed their class.
With the victory, Maldives topped the seven-team table with six points from two matches. Nepal and Pakistan are second with three points each.
