2023 Asian Games: Bangladesh teams drawn in tough groups

Bangladesh men's team will play against India, hosts China, and Myanmar in the group-stage fixtures of the upcoming 2023 Asian Games, after the draw took place in China today.

The men in red and green will be featuring their Olympic team, led by Jamal Bhuiyan. The top two teams from six groups and four best third-placed teams will progress to the round of 16.  

Meanwhile, Bangladesh women's team were placed alongside Japan, Vietnam and Nepal in Group D, one of the five groups. The women in red and green will be in for a uphill battle against former World Cup champions Japan and Vietnam, who are also participating in the ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup.  

In this case, the top team from each group and the three best second-placed teams will advance to the quarterfinals.

The quadrennial multi-sport event is scheduled to take place from September 23 to October 08 this year. However, the football action will begin on September 19.
