Zimbabwe’s Kaia reported for suspect bowling action against Bangladesh

Star Sports Report

Zimbabwe off-spinner Roy Kaia has been reported for suspect bowling action by match officials during their one-off Test against Bangladesh in Harare. Bangladesh won the game by 220 runs last Sunday.

The match officials' report cited concerns about the legality of the all-rounder's bowling action.

An expert panel set up by the ICC will now be examining the video footage of Kaia's bowling action.

"Video footage of Kaia's bowling action from the match will now be scrutinised by an Expert Panel as attendance and assessment at an ICC accredited testing centre is not possible due to various restrictions resulting from Covid-19," the ICC said in a statement.

The 29-year-old, however, will be able to continue bowling till the results are known. He can also challenge the verdict of the panel and then his bowling action will be assessed by another expert panel.

Kaia bowled a total of 23 overs during the one-off Test against Bangladesh in Harare but remained wicketless.

Zimbabwe are yet to announce their squads for their upcoming three ODIs and as many T20Is against Bangladesh. The ODI series will begin on July 16 in Harare. The second and third ODI will be on July 18 and 20 at the same venue.

The T20I series will begin on July 23.
