Zim 240 for nine despite Shoriful four-for

Star Sports Report

Left-arm seamer Shoriful Islam took four wickets as Bangladesh restricted Zimbabwe to 240 for nine in their 50 overs after being asked to bowl in the second one-day international at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday.

The innings figures of four 56 are the best in ODI cricket for Shoriful, who had previously taken three wickets in three matches.

The left-armer got rid of Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor -- hit-wicket for 46 -- before dismissing top-scorer Wesley Madhevere (56), Luke Jongwe (8) and Blessing Muzarabani (0) to help keep Zimbabwe from posting a big total in batting-friendly conditions.

Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets for 42 while Taskin Ahmed, Mohammad Saifuddin and Mehedi Hasan Miraz got a wicket apiece for Bangladesh, who are 1-0 up in the three-match series after winning the first match by 155 runs.

Earlier, after having elected to bat, the hosts lost opener Tinashe Kamunhukamwe for a single in the first over of the innings, bowled by Taskin Ahmed.

The other opener, Tadiwanashe Marumani, lived a charmed life before falling to Mehedi Hasan Miraz for 13, with the scoreboard reading 33 for two. Last match's half-centurion Regis Chakabva looked in good touch for 26 runs before becoming the first victim of Shakib Al Hasan.

The hosts had made two changes to their side, with Sikandar Raza and Tinashe Kamunhukamwe in, replacing Burl and Maruma - both injured. Bangladesh opted to field an unchanged XI.
