Wave of resignations continues in BCB as three directors quit in a day
Two more directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Shahnian Taneem and Mehrab Alam Chowdhury, submitted their resignations on Saturday night, adding to a growing list of departures from the current Aminul Islam Bulbul-led board.
Their decisions came shortly after fellow director Faiazur Rahman stepped down earlier in the evening, marking a day of significant upheaval within the board.
“I have handed in my resignation today due to problems with professional commitments,” Mehrab told The Daily Star on Saturday.
According to sources, Shahnian, who had been serving as chairman of the facilities committee, cited “disagreements” in his resignation letter. Attempts to reach him for comment during the filing of this report were unsuccessful.
With three directors resigning on the same day, the number of departures from the current elected board has now risen to six since the October 6 elections last year.
The latest resignations follow closely after Yasir Mohammed Faysal Ashique, a National Sports Council-nominated director, stepped down on Thursday.
Earlier this year, Ishtiaque Sadeque resigned in January citing personal reasons, while Amjad Hossain stepped down last month. Amjad resigned after being removed as chairman of the media committee, while Ishtiaque, who led the game development committee, also cited personal grounds.
The series of exits highlights ongoing instability within the BCB’s current administration.
