U-19s eke out 3-wicket win against Afghans

Bangladesh U-19s stuttered to a three-wicket victory against their Afghan counterparts in the second Youth ODI at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today.

Having won the first match of the five-match series by 16 runs on Friday, Bangladesh were boulstered by an excellent bowling display after being asked to field first by the visitors. 

Left-arm spinner Naimur Rahman took four wickets for 14 runs as Bangladesh bundled out the Afghans for 101 runs in 42.3 overs. Pacer Golam Kibria took two wickets while Ripon Mondol and skipper SM Mehrob chipped in wih a wicket each for the hosts. Opener Sabawoon Banoori scored an innings-high of 25 runs for Afghanistan U-19s. 

However, the chase proved to be a very difficult one for the hosts, who went from 37 for no lose to 95 for seven before closing out the match in 23.1 overs with three wickets in hand. Openers Mofijul Islam (31) and Prantik Nawrose Nabil (24) were the top scorers. 

Leg-spinner Izharullah Naveed took four wickets while left-arm spinner Shahidullah Hasani took three wickets for the Afghan side.
