Tigresses fall short in Ireland chase despite Juairiya's fluent 50
Bangladesh fell narrowly short in their opening ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 warm-up, going down by 11 runs to Ireland in Loughborough on Tuesday, while Scotland produced a commanding all-round display to outclass Pakistan by 41 runs (DLS) in Derby.
The warm-up fixtures formed part of the final preparation phase ahead of the tournament, which gets underway on June 12 across seven venues in England.
In a low-scoring contest, Ireland posted 143 for nine after being put in to bat, before restricting Bangladesh to 132 for six.
Bangladesh had early success with the ball, with fast bowler Marufa Akter removing Alana Danzell for a golden duck in the very first over, but Ireland recovered through a 43-run stand between Leah Paul and Rebecca Stokell, with Stokell top-scoring with a brisk 30 off 23 deliveries.
A late surge from Ava Canning proved decisive as she struck back-to-back sixes and a four in the final over to lift Ireland past the 140-mark.
Left-arm spinner Sanjida Meghla led the Bangladesh attack with three for 26, while six of the seven bowlers used also picked up wickets.
In reply, Ireland struck early when Aimee Maguire bowled Dilara Akter in the opening over.
Bangladesh, however, rebuilt through Juairiya Ferdous and Sharmin Supta, who added 77 for the second wicket.
Juairiya led the response with a fluent half-century, featuring 10 boundaries in a 38-ball stay, but Bangladesh lost momentum after her dismissal.
Maguire then ripped through the middle order, removing Supta, captain Nigar Sultana Joty and Sobhana Mostary in quick succession, leaving the Tigresses short despite a late push.
