Tigresses begin Asia Cup quest

Bangladesh women’s team will begin their Women’s T20 Asia Cup campaign against Indonesia in a Group B fixture at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium today.

The Tigresses have not reached the final since winning their only title in 2018, and captain Nigar Sultana Joty said their target this time is to go all the way to the summit clash.

Bangladesh reached the semifinals in the last edition and will be looking to start this campaign on a winning note.

“We have taken our preparations. We have been reaching semis and returning home recently, so definitely our target is to make the finals,” Joty said at the captains’ meeting ahead of the tournament.

Bangladesh typically receive decent support from fans in Dubai, but the Tigresses’ immediate focus will be on securing a positive start.

Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka and the UAE in their remaining Group B matches on September 6 and 8, respectively.
