Taylor's bizarre dismissal heaps misery on Zimbabwe

Star Sports Report

Captain Brendan Taylor dismissed himself in a bizarre fashion as Zimbabwe crumbled to 113 for four after 25 overs of the second one-day international against Bangladesh at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday.

Taylor was batting solidly on 46 when he tried to play an upper cut against Shoriful Islam. He missed the ball and then hurled his bat around on to the stumps in the follow-through, unfortunately clipping the bail off the stumps.

The Bangladesh players could not believe their luck as the Zimbabwe captain had raced to 46 off 57 deliveries.

Dion Myers was batting on 15 and was joined by Wesley Madhevere.

Earlier, after having elected to bat, the hosts lost opener Tinashe Kamunhukamwe for a single in the first over of the innings, bowled by Taskin Ahmed.

The other opener, Tadiwanashe Marumani, lived a charmed life before falling to Mehedi Hasan Miraz for 13, with the scoreboard reading 33 for two. Last match's half-centurion Regis Chakabva looked in good touch for 26 runs before becoming the first victim of Shakib Al Hasan.
