Sohan rewrites List A record books with 45-ball century
Habibur Rahman Sohan struck the fastest List A century by a Bangladeshi as Legends of Rupganj posted 322 against City Club in their penultimate Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2025-26 fixture at the ULAB Cricket Ground on Monday.
The wicketkeeper-batter reached his hundred in just 45 balls, breaking the previous record he jointly held with Mosaddek Hossain after scoring a 49-ball century in 2023.
Sohan smashed eight fours and 13 sixes -- the second-highest number of sixes in a List A innings by a Bangladeshi -- during a blistering knock of 130 off 58 deliveries. Aich Mollah chipped in with a brisk 45 off 41 balls as Rupganj piled up a daunting total after opting to bat first.
Earlier this week, Sohan had equalled the record for the fastest fifty in Bangladesh's List A cricket, reaching the milestone in 15 balls against Mohammedan Sporting Club to match Parvez Hossain Emon's feat.
Despite Sohan's exploits, Rupganj are already out of the title race, having collected just 10 points from their first nine matches.
Meanwhile, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Abahani Limited and Prime Bank Cricket Club remain in contention for the title. However, all three sides endured batting struggles in their respective 10th-round matches on Monday and faced the prospect of defeats.
