Legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram showered praise on Bangladesh team following their historic Test series whitewash over Pakistan, describing the Tigers as a side now ready to compete with the best in the format.

Bangladesh completed a memorable 2-0 series sweep after securing a 78-run victory in the second Test in Sylhet on Wednesday, prompting widespread admiration across the cricketing world.

Among those applauding Bangladesh’s rise was Akram, who took to social media to commend the hosts’ all-round display.

“Really disappointed to see Pakistan beaten for the second time by Bangladesh, but full praise and marks to the winners as they played complete cricket,” Akram wrote on X.

The former Pakistan captain also highlighted Bangladesh’s changing approach to Test cricket, particularly the evolution of their pitches and fast-bowling resources.

“Bangladesh used to have low, slow and big turners but now they are preparing great Test pitches, helping their fast-rising pace bowlers who outpaced Pakistan,” he added.

Akram’s comments reflected a growing recognition of Bangladesh’s transformation in red-ball cricket, especially their newfound strength in pace bowling -- an area traditionally dominated by the subcontinent’s rivals.

The 58-year-old was particularly impressed by emerging fast bowler Nahid Rana, calling the youngster “a treat to watch”.

“Bangladesh are now ready to compete against the best in this format. And what a talent Nahid Rana is -- a treat to watch. Congrats Bangladesh,” Akram wrote.
