Mushfiqur asked to be available for Zim T20s
Veteran batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has been asked to make himself available for the T20 series against Zimbabwe. The team management decided to keep Mushfiqur for the T20s given the 10-day quarantine period needed for the upcoming series against Australia at home.
Having won the Test match on Sunday, Bangladesh shift their focus to shorter versions, with three ODIs lined up next followed by three T20Is.
Mushfiqur had asked the BCB to not include him in the T20 series, an appeal previously accepted by the board. But as it appears, the management changed their decision and asked Mushfiqur to remain with the squad for the T20Is. Cricket Australia (CA) put in some strict conditions, one of which was that cricketers will have to quarantine for 10 days ahead of the series in Bangladesh.
"Before the Australia series, everyone will have to stay in quarantine for 10 days. Our plan is to keep one of two more players from the ODI side for the T20 team. Someone could be ill all of a sudden so we will not take a risk. The decision is that Mushfiqur will remain with the T20 side, however a final decision on him will be taken after talking to the team management on the 15th," chief selector Minhajul Abedin said.
Bangladesh's last match against Zimbabwe is on July 27, following which they will return home for a five-match T20I series at home against Australia between August 2 and 8.
