Madhevere fifty, Burl's cameo help Zim post 166 for six

Following Wessley Madhevere's third T20I fifty, an unbeaten cameo innings from Ryan Burl helped Zimbabwe pile up a challenging total of 166 for six against Bangladesh in their second T20I at the Harare Sports Club today.

Madhevere's 57-ball 73 -- his career best T20I score -- and Burl's quick-fire unbeaten 19-ball 34 at the death saw the hosts finish strong after having struggled with the scoring rate in the middle. 

Having elected to bat, Zimbabwe got off to flying start even after losing opener Tadiwanashe Marumani in the second over to Bangladesh spinner Mahedi Hasan. The hosts kept on scoring around eight an over as they raced to 48 for two in the powerplay, forcing Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah Riyad to use five different bowlers in the first six overs. 

However, Bangladesh bowlers managed to keep the scoring rate in check after premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan removed a dangerous-looking and in-form batsman Regis Chakabva (14 off 9) in the final over of the powerplay. 

Madhevere stitched partnerships of 57 and 23 with Dion Myers and Sikandar Raza for the third and fourth wicket respectively but those partnerships never looked ominous for the visitors. Madhevere accelerated at the latter part of the game before falling in the 18th over to pacer Shoriful Islam after a brilliant knock that featured five fours and three maximums. 

After that, Burl's quick-fire cameo knock that included two massive sixes and as many boundaries helped the hosts reach a decent total.

Shoriful remained the pick of the bowler for Tigers as the young left-arm pacer finished with figures of three for 33 in his four overs.
