Jalal Ahmed Chowdhury put on ventilator

Renowned cricket coach and cricket writer Jalal Ahmed Chowdhury was put on a ventilator last night at Anwer Khan Modern Hospital Limited in the capital after his condition deteriorated.    

Jalal, who is suffering from lung infection and respiratory problems, was admitted to the capital hospital on September 15 and was undergoing treatment at the ICU. 

"The doctors confirmed that his lung has been affected. He was put on a ventilator at around 2:30am last night," CWAB (Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh) general secretary Debabrata Paul told The Daily Star today. 

"The doctors briefed his situation at around 11:30am today. They said his oxygen level is at 90-91. His condition will be further assessed and then the doctors will take the next course of action tomorrow depending on the situation. He might also need a bronchoscopy test tomorrow, doctors said," added Debabrata on Jalal's condition.  

Jalal was admitted to the hospital on September 1 for the first time due to shortness of breath and cough. He, however, returned home after being treated at the hospital before his health deteriorated once again. 

Jalal, who was a prominent cricketer in the 70s and 80s, is also considered as 'sir' by many established cricketers of the country.
