Australia confirm Bangladesh white-ball tour in June
Cricket Australia on Friday confirmed the itinerary for their white-ball tour of Bangladesh in June, making slight changes to the schedule provided earlier in the year by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Australia are set to play their first ODI series in Bangladesh in 15 years. The last time they toured Bangladesh for an ODI series was in 2011, when Michael Clarke's men secured a 3-0 win over a side led by Shakib Al Hasan. Prior to that, the Aussies visited in 2006, when Ricky Ponting’s men swept a three-match ODI series 3-0 against a Habibul Bashar-led Bangladesh side.
This time, however, Australia will play three ODIs and three T20Is.
The three-match ODI series was initially slated to start on June 5, according to the BCB’s schedule. However, the matches will now be held on June 9, 11, and 14, respectively, with all games taking place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
The three T20Is are scheduled for June 17, 19, and 21 at Chattogram’s Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium.
A fresh broadcast rights agreement struck this week means there will be no repeat of Australia's previous tour, which was blacked out to Australian viewers. This will be the first men's white-ball bilateral series in Bangladesh to be viewable in Australia since 2011, a Cricket Australia report said.
The last time Australia visited Bangladesh was in 2021 for a T20I series, which ended 4-1 in Bangladesh’s favour. Bangladesh are set to visit Australia for two Test matches in August -- their first in the country since 2003 -- with matches scheduled in Darwin and Mackay.
