Amite's 213 drives Sylhet, Chattogram thump Rangpur
Sylhet batter Amite Hasan notched a double ton and matched his career-best score of 213 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in the NCL match against Rajshahi.
Amite carried on from an overnight score of 172 not out to notch a double ton in 221 deliveries. He was out caught-and-bowled by Asaduzzaman Payel after a 251-ball 213, laced with 28 fours and a six. Amite's dismissal ended the fourth-wicket stand between him and other centurion Asadullah Al Galib end on 342.
Galib, who was on unbeaten on 111 at close of play on day two, missed out on a double ton, falling for 180 off 298 deliveries. Sylhet declared at 535 for 8. Nahid Rana was the pick of the bowlers for Rajshahi, picking up three for 88.
Rajshahi resisted with the bat in the second innings and ended the day at 146 for 3, trailing by 153 runs ahead of day four with S M Meherob Hasan unbeaten on 55.
Chattogram meanwhile brought down table toppers Rangpur down by an innings and 43 runs at Cox's Bazar International Cricket Stadium today. Made to follow on after being bowled out for 126 yesterday in the first innings, skipper Akbar Ali's 58 provided the only resistance as Rangpur were bowled out for 181. Spinners Hasan Murad and Nayeem Hasan dominated proceedings, picking up four wickets each for Chattogram, who posted 350 all out in the first innings.
At Sylhet Academy Ground, fifties from Naim Sheikh (53) and Md Al Amin Jr. (86) saw Mymensingh declare at 242 for 9 in the second innings. Barishal's Ruyel Miah bagged five wickets in the second innings for 64 runs. Barishal reached 104 for four, still behind by 272 runs, awaiting a difficult final day with six wickets left in the tank.
Khulna batters showed patience against Dhaka in the second innings at Khulna Divisional Stadium even though there was no big individual scores. Having bowled Dhaka out for 310, Khulna reached 149 for 5 at close of day three.
Number four Imranuzzaman held the innings together with a 165-ball unbeaten 27 while skipper Mohammad Mithun fell for 32. Soumya reached 31 during a 40-run stand with Imranuzzaman at close. With a 33-run lead, Khulna have their work cut out to stave off Dhaka in the sixth round's match.
