Agha loses his wits, Miraz removes his bails
In a rare moment of ‘brain fade’, Pakistan’s Agha Salman was run out calamitously, which ignited a war of words on the field during the second ODI between Bangladesh and Pakistan at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Pakistan were going strong at 230 for three before skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz came in to bowl the 39th over. Mohammad Rizwan drove a length delivery straight back to the bowler, and instead of moving away from the line of the delivery, Agha was gingerly trying to make it back to the crease.
He had not noticed that Miraz was sneaking behind him trying to get the ball. Agha them proceeded to try and pick up the ball but Miraz, still vigilant and aware, snuck the ball away from just under Agha’s gloves and produced a direct hit with Agha strangely static outside the crease.
Agha was seen immediately debating the proceedings with Miraz and was seen throwing his gloves and helmet onto the ground.
Later, when the umpire referred the decision to the third-umpire, Agha walked away furiously.
He was seen exchanging words with a few players while Litton Das and Miraz were apparently also fuming at the exchange of words. Najmul Hossain Shant apparently tried to calm the situation as Agha left the field, still fuming and again throwing his gears onto the ground just before entering the dugout.
Agha fell for 64 off 62 deliveries as Pakistan innings crumbled from 230 for thee to 274 all out.
