And *SMASH*
Yasin's amazing smash gains Sundane another point against Summerbreeze. Three more points and they're through to the finals. The time to face AGS is the finals is lessening. Summerbreeze is just another obstacle on their path to triumph against AGS on their own home-ground.
Sitting in the crowd with her friends, Raya resists the urge to cheer her boyfriend's amazing smash. She wasn't oblivious that she was dating an exceptional player, yet he left her stunned each time. Alas, she couldn't cheer, not for their rival school. She might be dating one of Sundane's top players, but she herself was one of AGS. Never would she wish for Sundane's victory.
With Summerbreeze's last miss, Sundane goes through to the finals.
"Oi Raya," she heard her friend Sahil call, "Who are you rooting for? Us or Sundane?"
"Why would I be rooting for anyone other than AGS?" Raya replied in a matter-of-fact-ly way.
"Ouch," a voice speaks from behind, Yasin Darsheel, with a fake pained façade.
"You thought I would support Sundane? How cute," Raya smirked, "And why would I do that?"
"Oh I don't know," Yasin started sarcastically, "Maybe because your boyfriend is playing for them? Who do you even have in AGS?"
"Oh I don't know," Raya countered mirroring the sarcasm, "Me? You are going down Darsheel."
Yasin grinned at his adorable girlfriend, "We shall see Rahmat".
Raya and Yasin got used to this rivalry over the while they've been dating. They got used to their friends' persistent mocking for dating their rivals. Last year AGS boys' team took the trophy. Yasin wouldn't let it slip from his grasp this time. He loved rubbing the victory on Raya's face, it was just too good. He loved that their relationship was like this. Not just sappy romance, but bantering around. They had their moments though. The look of appreciation and pride in Raya's orbs when he did that amazing smash didn't go unnoticed by Yasin. Raya herself was a great player. He'd always keep his gaze fixed to her during the tournaments. Taught her some volleyball tactics too.
AGS put up a good fight, but at the end, Sundane was just better.
"Don't even start" Raya snapped as Yasin approached her with a cheeky grin and the champion medal dangling from his neck.
He put his hands up in defeat, "I won't. But can I get a picture with my losing girlfriend? We really need to capture this delightful moment".
"Go away", whined Raya, "I'm not taking pictures with you unless you take the medal off and wipe that smug smile from your lips."
Yasin smiled and did as instructed. He'd hold onto this photograph. She looked stunning in that neon AGS jersey.
"Yasin! Team picture!" coach roared.
As he began walking away, she held his arm. He looked back.
"Good job Yasin", she smiled, "I'm so proud of you".
