BUP Cultural Fest 2016: Indulged in Festivity

Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) has succeeded to awe everyone with their recently organised "BUP Inter-University Cultural Fest 2016 - Powered by Infoworld". It was a two-day event, hosted by BUP Cultural Forum (BUPCF). The inter-university cultural fest has been a signature event of the Forum for the past three years, but this was the first to go nationwide. Ten renowned universities from around the country participated in the festivity of colour and culture.

The programme started off on November 11, 2016. On the first day, the ten participating universities, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka Medical College, Jahangirnagar University, Rajshahi University, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, BRAC University, United International University, Armed Forces Medical College, Eastern University and BUP, showcased their creativity, talent and dedication for their culture and heritage through their performances. Each team gave their best efforts to win the hearts of the judges, to prove that their institution was the best of the bests. Sitting in the judges' panel, doing the next-to-impossible task were four of the country's most celebrated figures in the entertainment industry: Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shamim Ara Nipa, Pintu Ghosh and Arman Parvez Murad.

"BUPCF has the capability to pull off an international cultural fest, and I am very hopeful of attending that too," stated Fazlur Rahman Babu, highly appreciating the hospitality and discipline of the festival. 

The beloved Shamim Ara Nipa said, "Everyone has a beautiful, tender corner in their hearts. Amidst all the national and global unrest, it is the beauty of mind that can make the world a better place to live in. And a platform like this, where the young minds can practice culture and nurture the beauty on their mind, is inevitable for humanity."

The closing and prize giving ceremony was held the next day, where Minister of Cultural Affairs, Asaduzzaman Noor, was the chief guest and the VC of BUP, Major General Salahuddin Miaji, rcds, psc, was the special guest. AUST and BUP shared the second runners-up position while BUET claimed first runner-up. The "Outstanding Performance" was awarded to the team of Dhaka Medical College for leaving the judges speechless with their act. Finally, the title of champion was well earned by the team from Jahangirnagar University.

The event was wrapped up by a commencement for the winners and participants and everyone present there. Nemesis and Chirkut, along with two bands from BUP, turned up the celebration to a height that will be difficult to forget any time soon.
