Moodle Training Awards at ULAB

University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) awarded faculty members who completed a Moodle Training Workshop. The awards were given at a ceremony on April 15, 2015. Moodle is an online learning system that supplements face-to-face classes.

ULAB has adopted Moodle, an open-source learning management system, and all faculty members are being trained to use the system in order to enhance student learning. Training workshops are held every semester, conducted by Department of English faculty member and Moodle expert Arifa Ghani Rahman.

Using Moodle, faculty members can upload lectures in different formats including videos, assign tasks and grade them, conduct quizzes, have online discussions, take attendance, and so on. Best of all, grades are all available in real-time. Students can be on track with their studies during political turmoil, sickness or any other instances.

The 56 faculty members who completed the Moodle Training Workshop this semester were awarded certificates by the VC, Prof. Imran Rahman. Dr. H.M. Jahirul Haque, ULAB Pro-VC; Dr. Brian Shoesmith, Dean of Academic Development; and Juditha Ohlmacher, Advisor, Communications and Student Affairs, were also present.
