Prize Giving Ceremony of Book Reading Competition at ULAB

The prize giving ceremony of Book Reading Competition, initiated at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh by British Council Bangladesh, took place at the auditorium of ULAB on March 11, 2015.
Professor Imran Rahman, vice-chancellor, ULAB said that the programme initiated by the British Council will play a vital role in enhancing the reading habits of students. Such a competition will help the students to be habituated to reading world-class classics written in simple language, said Matt Pusey, Deputy Country Director, British Council, Bangladesh. 
Professor Imran Rahman, Vice Chancellor, ULAB awarded top seven winners with certificates and 1 year British Council Library membership whereas Matt Pusey, Deputy Country Director, British Council, Bangladesh, distributed certificates among  127 students who attended the test. Prof. Dr. Jahirul Haque, Pro-Vice  Chancellor, ULAB, Prof. Kaiser Hamidul Haque, Prof. Shamsad Mortuza, faculties from different disciplines and admin members were also present at the program. 

Workshop at SEU on 21st Century Eco-Village Design

A workshop titled "21st Century Eco-Village Design", conducted by international expert on sustainable architecture Ar. Iliona Outram Khalili, was held at Southeast University (SEU) on March 14, 2015. 
Pro-VC of SEU Prof. Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir Chowdhury was the chief guest and Chairman of the Dept. of Architecture Prof. Meer Mobashsher Ali delivered the welcome address. Dean (Acting), School of Science & Engineering, Prof. Syed Fakhrul Hassan delivered the vote of thanks. Director of Housing and Building Research Institute Md. Abu Sadeque, Education Secretary of Institute of Architects Bangladesh Ar. Mahmudul Anwar Riyaad, Director of New Earth UK Aktanin Khair Tanin and Assistant Prof. and Coordinator of Dept. of Architecture Ar. Mohammad Sazzad Hossain, Chief Coordinator of BOT, SEU Trust Wing Cdr. Syed Ahmed Kabir, fawc, psc (Retd.), and faculty members of SEU were also present. 

Graduation Dinner, Fall 2014 at Faculty of Law, NUB

The Faculty of Law, Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) arranged a "Graduation Dinner" at NUB Faculty of Law (Kawran Bazar campus) on the occasion of the completion of LLB Honours and LLM Degree in Fall 2014. Justice Naima Haider, Justice of High Court Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh was the chief guest. Chairman, NUB Trust, Prof. Dr. Abu Yousuf Md. Abdullah; Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anwarul Karim; Treasurer Md. Anwar Hossain, were present as special guests at the programme. Prof. Dr. A.W.M. Abdul Huq, Vice Chancellor (Acting) and Dean, Faculty of Law presided over the programme. 
Among others, Associate Prof. and Head, Dept. of Law Dr. Md. Abdul Jalil; Coordinator, Dept. of Law Suprovat Halder, and all the faculty members of the department were 
also present. 

Talk on knowledge dissemination at IUB

The School of Environmental Science and Management of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised a talk on "Sharing Experiences in Voluntary Knowledge Dissemination" on March 9, 2015 on its campus at Bashundhara. Philip Crabtree, a renowned teacher at voluntary service overseas delivered the lecture. Currently he is associated with Moanoghar Residential School in Rangamati. Prof. Dr. M. Ali Hossain, Dean, School of Environmental Science and Management, IUB, delivered the welcome speech. Among others, Rashed Chowdhury, Chairman, BOT, IUB and Prof. M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor spoke on the occasion. Hla Thoaiching Marma, a student of IUB spoke on behalf of the students. Chowdhury Kamrul Hasan, Senior Lecturer of Environmental Science gave the formal vote of thanks.
The discussion was followed by a lively question-answer session. Members of IUB founding trust, faculty, management officials and students attended the programme.

Inauguration of IQAC and workshop at Stamford 

Under Higher Education Quality Enhancement Program (HEQEP) organised by the UGC, the IQAC (Institutional Quality Assurance Cell) was inaugurated at Stamford University Bangladesh. Prof. Dr. M. Feroze Ahmed, Vice Chancellor, SUB opened the session. Prof. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Chief of Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) of UGC and Prof. Dr. K. Maudood Elahi, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SUB attended the programme as special guests. The speaker congratulated Stamford University on this occasion. Dr. Md. Shahidul Kabir, Director IQAC, SUB in his welcome address explained the activities. He informed that 160 day-long workshops, 2 national seminars and one national convention would be arranged.
In the second session, a day-long workshop was arranged under the financial assistance of the World Bank and officials of Quality Assurance Unit of the UGC were present in the session.

AIUB launches Women Forum 

The AIUB Women Forum was inaugurated on March 8, 2015, coinciding with the International Women's Day at the AIUB Auditorium by the Vice Chancellor of American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB), Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna.
The Women Forum is aimed at empowering women in AIUB through education, enterprise and leadership at all levels of decision making. The Forum will bring together women's rights campaigners, NGOs, women's machineries and women entrepreneurs. 
The VC and the Advisor of AIUB Women Forum delivered her message for the ceremony.  She emphasised on the role of women in exploring and addressing the barriers in accessing opportunities in education, business and political leadership, including women's health and domestic violence. The launching program of AIUB Women forum was coordinated by Farheen Hasan and Farhana Afroz.
