"Marketing Marvels" at BRACU
BRAC Business School Alumni Network hosted an event "Marketing Marvels" on February 28, 2015. The event was graced with the presence of the dean and senior lecturer of BRAC Business School, Mohammad Rezaur Razzak and the co-advisor of BUMA, Tahsan Khan.
Tajdin Hassan, Sales Manager, The Daily Star, Ashraf Ul Bari, Brand Manager, Unilever and Stawb Peter Halder, founder of BRAC University Alumni Network were all present as guest speakers and alumni at the event. Each speaker emphasized on how the corporate world is vastly different from the life the students are accustomed to and they helped set up a scenario of what is expected from them in the future. The session ended with an open discussion between the alumni and the students. The Daily Star was the strategic partner and the event partner was Radio Foorti.
UIUBC organises "360 Degrees – The Right Directions''
UIU Business Club (UIUBC) organised its workshop event "360 Degrees – The Right Directions'' on February 28, 2015 at the campus auditorium. The event was supported by the Directorate of Student Affairs of UIU.
The objective of this workshop was to cover the four fields of BBA degrees, namely Finance, Marketing, HRM and Accounting. The guests - Ahmed Nur - E - Mahbub, Isfarul Haque and Irfan Ahmed spoke about their own fields of expertise and gave vivid examples and explanations for the crowd. Isfarul Haque, Senior Executive, HR Kites spoke on the wide field that is human resources. Ahmed Nur - E- Mahbub, Marketing Territory Officer, BAT, spoke on creating values, i.e. the principles of marketing. Irfan Ahmed, Research Analyst, New Vision is an economist and spoke on the essential key matters related to getting hired.
The event concluded with the closing speech by the club moderator, Behroz Jalil in presence of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rezwan Khan, VC of UIU.
EDU launches video class
East Delta University (EDU), Chittagong introduced video classes from February 22 to promote class activities during blockade and shutdowns. From now students can attend the video classes from home or can download the required class lectures from the EDU website. The software will allow students to participate in live chat with teachers for discussion. "This new method will help to run the academic activities of the university and bring the classes to the doorsteps of the students in the ongoing political unrest," said Sayeed Al Noman, founder Vice Chairman of EDU.
Delegates from University of Maryland visit NSU
Delegates from University of Maryland, USA led by Prof. Rita Colwell, former advisor to US President Barack Obama and Professor of the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics, University of Maryland visited North South University yesterday. She was accompanied by Prof. Anwar Huq who is in charge of Colwell-Huq Laboratory at University of Maryland and Dr. Munirul Alam, Senior Scientist, ICDDR, B.
On their visit to NSU, an agreement was signed which covered areas like student-teacher exchanges, research and training. In addition, the creation of joint academic and research projects and the cooperation in the field of education's internationalization were discussed with Prof. Amin Sarkar, Vice Chancellor and Benajir Ahmed, Chairman, BOT, NSU. Through these activities, North South University and University of Maryland hope to actively develop their relationship in the educational and research activities.
SEUDC qualifies for final round of HR Debate Competition 2015
Southeast University Debating Club (SEUDC) had qualified for the final of Inter University HR Debate Competition 2015, organised by Bangladesh Society for Human Resources Management (BSHRM) as part of their 4th International HR Conference 2015. The debaters of SEU team are Syeda Zubayra Zabeen, Md. Tanvir Neaz Shakil, Shaila Sharmin, Habibur Rahman and Lamia Sarwat. SEU Debating Club defeated teams from ULAB and BRAC University in the 1st round and semi final respectively. The final debate competition was held on February 28, 2015 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC). The SEU Debate Team is led by the Moderator of SEU Debating Club Asst. Professor M. Abdullah Al Mamun.
Agreement signed between Stamford University and Sunlife Insurance
An agreement of collaboration between Stamford University Bangladesh and Sunlife Insurance Co. Ltd. was signed at Stamford Center on group insurance for the students on February 28, 2015. Under this agreement, the students of Stamford University will get accidental death insurance coverage or medical coverage on a special scheme. This is the first such insurance scheme provided for students. This is an innovative insurance policy introduced by Sunlife Insurance Co. Ltd. for the welfare of students.
During the MoU signing session, Md. Abdul Matin, Acting Registrar, Prof. M.M.A. Sikder, Proctor and Fazle Rab, Deputy Registrar, on behalf of Stamford University and M. Solaiman Hossain, CEO, Md. Rabiul Alam, ACS, DMD and Company Secretary and Shahadat Hossain Shohag, Head of Group Insurance, AMD of Sunlife Insurance Co. Ltd. were present.
