UODA holds seminar on Case-based Teaching Method
A seminar on "Case-based Teaching Method" was held at the University of Development Alternative (UODA). Siddique Hayat Khan, Assistant Professor of the Business Faculty, presented the keynote paper and Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Emajuddin Ahamed chaired the seminar.
A case is a record of a business issue which actually has been faced by business executives, together with surrounding facts, opinions, and prejudices upon which the executives had to depend. A case may consist of data presented in pure texts, numbers, charts, or in any combination of these. Through a case, a teacher attempts to simulate a real-world situation in the classroom. Traditional teaching method encourages students to memorize lessons without understanding the concepts and their application. Most students completely fail to retain what they have learned during the 4-year BBA programme. As opposed to that case-based method helps students relate theories with real-world situations. Khan stressed on using case in all courses offered in the BBA programme. The VC thanked the speaker and encouraged all faculty members to work collaboratively in developing cases.
