EU elects new chairman
The 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Eastern University (EU) Foundation was held recently. Md. Azizul Islam was elected the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Eastern University (EU) for 2016-17.
Md. Azizul Islam is a founding member of the EU Foundation and Chairman of Alif Group. The meeting was chaired by Abul Khair Chowdhury, the outgoing Chairman. Also, Mohammad Enayet Ullah, Liaquat Hossain Moghul & Alhaj Sk. Saydur Rahman were elected as the Vice-Chairmen and Md. Ali Azzam was elected as the Treasurer. All members of the Board congratulated the new Chairman and others on taking over the charge. Among others, VC, Pro-VC, Treasurer, Registrar were present at the meeting.
SEU students selected for scholarships
Students at Wuhan Textile University (WTU), China, who completed their undergraduate degree from Southeast University (SEU), have succeeded in different areas. Md. Anwar Jahid, a graduate level student of Textile Engineering Department at WTU has been selected as the Best Student among all international students for his outstanding result and extracurricular activities. WTU has invited him for delivering a speech at its Convocation Ceremony to be held on July 17, 2016. He completed his bachelor's degree from SEU on Textile Engineering as a student of 17th Batch. He has also been offered job at Since Tech Group in China.
Sakil Mahmud, an 11th batch student of SEU Textile Engineering Department has been offered Holland UMHP Full Scholarship at Maastricht University, the Netherlands, CAS-TWAS President Fellowship 2016 at The World Academy of Science and Shanghai Government Scholarship 2016 at Shanghai Jiaotong University, China for PhD programme.
Md. Nahid Pervez, a 13th batch student of SEU Textile Engineering Department has been offered James Watt Full Scholarship at Heriot-Watt University, Scotland, CAS-TWAS President Fellowship 2016 at The World Academy of Science and Government Scholarship at University of Macao for PhD programme.
Md Ahsan Habib, a 5th batch student of SEU Textile Engineering Department has also been offered CAS-TWAS President Fellowship 2016 at The World Academy of Science.
Ashraful Islam, a 13th batch student of SEU Textile Engineering Department has been offered job at NICCA Chemical Co. Ltd. in China.
Besides, Md. Shibli Mollah, a student of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Southeast University (SEU), has been selected for the Community College Initiative (CCI) Award, 2016-17 at Valencia College, Orlando by US Department of State.
NSUSSC organises "Eid Clothing and Iftar Distribution"
North South University Social Services Club (NSUSSC) organised its annual event in association with Acme Bangladesh, Knorr (Unilever) and Indigo Collection titled "Eid Clothing and Iftar Distribution". This year's event took place on the June 30 at Manik Mia Avenue, in front of The Parliament Building where clothes were distributed among poverty-stricken children and the iftar was distributed to the orphans of Baitul Falah Jame Masjid and Madrasah at Mohammadpur. The aim of this event was to spread the spirit of Ramadan and the happiness of Eid among the orphaned and underprivileged children of the capital.
NSU SSC always arranges this event for the street children who struggle on a daily basis for their basic necessities and give them a bit of joy by spending time with them and providing them with a hearty meal for iftar and new clothes for Eid.
Belal Ahmed, Deputy Director and Spokesperson of NSU, led the team of Club President, Secretary and more than hundred members of NSU SSC in distributing iftar and clothes among children.
DIU holds workshop on Sharing Survey Results
Department of Business Administration and Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Daffodil International University (DIU) organised workshop on "Sharing Survey Results" under IQAC on June 30, 2016 in the conference room of the university. Prof. Dr. Charles Villanueva, Director, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell, AIUB graced the occasion as the chief guest while Dr. M. Shahidul Kabir, Director, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell, Stamford University Bangladesh was present as the special guest. Mohammed Masum Iqbal, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Business Administration shared the survey results of the data collected during the self-assessment process of the respective department.
The chief guest Prof. Dr. Charles Villanueva elucidated different aspects of quality assurance under the rule of IQAC. He encouraged the SA Committee members to focus on what their students are competent to do more than what they have already done. The special guest Dr. M. Shahidul Kabir suggested the SA committee members to find out the opportunity for the development of students. He also emphasised that quality assurance is a matter of enthusiasm. Prof. Dr. Fokhray Hossain, Additional Director of IQAC, DIU was also present as guest of honour. He suggested ensuring outcome based learning methods which may facilitate the students in developing their career. The workshop was attended by 15 faculty members of Business Administration Department of DIU.
