Top Arsa commander shot dead in Rohingya camp: APBn
A leader of Rohingya insurgent group Arsa was shot dead in Ukhiya refugee camp in Cox's Bazar early today, according to the APBn.
The deceased was identified as Nur Habib alias Daktar Wakkas, 42, a top commander of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa), who was involved in different crimes, including murders in the Rohingya camp.
He passed away while undergoing treatment at the IOM Hospital, said a press release signed by APBn assistant superintendent of police (media), Md Faruk Ahmed.
According to the release, Armed Police Battalion (APBn) primarily suspected that the incident happened over establishing supremacy in the area and a long-standing dispute between the criminals' groups.
Captain (Additional DIG) of APBN-8 Md Amir Jafar and Vice-Captain (Superintendent of Police) Khandaker Fazle Rabbi visited the spot and instructed the arrest of criminals who were behind the murder.
