PM does not know about Rajshahi, Sylhet mayors’ suspension order: Quader
The prime minister does not know about the suspension orders of Rajshahi and Sylhet City Corporations and Habiganj Municipality mayors, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said today.
“The issue of suspending the mayors is under local government ministry. The local government ministry must have taken the decision. The reason and cause behind it – the local government ministry can say about it better. But so far, I know, the honourable prime minister does not know about such major policy decision,” Quader said while talking to reporters in Demra area of Dhaka this afternoon, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
Mayors of Sylhet and Rajshahi City Corporations, Ariful Haque Chowdhury and Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, were suspended yesterday in line with two separate orders issued by the LGRD ministry, hours after they rejoined their respective offices.
Habiganj Municipality Mayor Golam Kibria Gaus met the same fate on the same day.
Claiming that it is a matter of the LGRD ministry and the ministry took the decision, Quader said the prime minister is not aware of such ‘policy decision’.
Quader went there to inaugurate a road Konapara area of Demra.
