Commission soon to try Aug 15 plotters: Law minister

Law Minister Anisul Huq today said a commission will be formed soon to identify and ensure the punishment of the masterminds behind the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members.

“Insha Allah, an official announcement in this regard would be made after consultation with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina soon,” he said.

The minister made the announcement at a discussion titled “Month of mourning, month of conspiracy, August” organised by Sampriti Bangladesh, a citizens’ platform promoting secularism, at Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.

He said the commission would probably be headed by the chief justice or the parliament speaker and would be a very important institution as it is going to perform a major duty. 

He said the anti-liberation forces’ intention to humiliate the country’s independence by assassinating Bangabandhu was failed due to the strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
