Khaleda appeals HC to scrap 2 arson cases
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has filed two separate petitions with the High Court seeking for scrapping the trial proceedings against her in two arson cases.
Police filed the cases with Darussalam Police Station on February 10 and 20 in 2015, on charge of setting fire to vehicles during the anti-government movement.
Police submitted charge sheet of the cases in May 12 and 14 last year to the trial court implicating Khaleda Zia along with other accused.
The trial court took cognisance of the charges of the cases on August 10 last year.
The BNP chief on April 4 submitted two separate petitions to the HC challenging the lower court order that accepted the charges.
In the petitions she said that her name was not included in the first information report (FIR) of the cases as she was confined during the incident.
She also prayed to the court to stay the trial proceedings of the case against her.
The HC may hold hearing on the petitions filed by Khaleda Zia on April 9.
