Gazipur court orders arrest for Tarique

A Gazipur court today issued an arrest warrant against BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman and eight others in a case filed for hurling petrol bombs on passenger bus during anti-government movement in 2015.

Judge of Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-1 Md Fazle Elahi Bhuiyan passed the order this noon, reports our Gazipur correspondent.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Dilip Chandra Sarkar lodged a case with Joydebpur Police Station against Tarique Ragman and eight of his party men under a special power act.

According to the case statement, Tarique Rahman was extending financial support to his party men and fuelling them to create an unstable situation in the country after January 5, 2014 general election.

Staying abroad, Tarique Rahman helped setting fire to a passenger bus by throwing petrol bomb and kerosene in Hotapara industrial area of Gazipur on January 21, 2015.

After investigation, police submitted charge sheet accusing Tarique Rahman and 32 leaders and activists of the party on August 25 in the same year.
