Moudud must leave his Gulshan residence: SC
BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed will have to leave his Gulshan residence as the Supreme Court today dismissed two petitions filed seeking review of its earlier verdict that declared the residence of Moudud an abandoned property.
A five-member bench of Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order after holding hearing on the review petitions today, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam told reporters.
One of the review petitions filed by Moudud’s brother Manjur Ahmed and another petition was filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission.

While dismissing the review petition of Manjur today, the apex court gave some observations, which will be known when the SC will release the full verdict.
Meanwhile, Moudud told reporters that he will not leave the residence and will continue legal battle.
On August 2 last year, the SC scrapped a High Court verdict that had directed the authorities to mutate the Gulshan residence, where Moudud has been living using the name of his brother- Manjur Ahmed, and also ruled that the house land is an abandoned property.
The apex court, however, quashed the proceeding of a corruption case filed against Moudud and his brother Manjur Ahmed on the charge of grabbing the land of the residence.
