BNP doesn’t believe in Liberation War spirit: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today criticised BNP for not observing Mujibnagar Day, the oath-taking day of the country's first government in 1971.
“BNP does not believe in the spirit of Liberation War as it refrains from commemorating the Mujibnagar Day,” Quader said while addressing a programme at Mujibnagar in Meherpur, reports the Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said BNP is now stuck in quicksand and has become a “Nalish [allegation] Party” as they are busy to lodge allegation to anyone.
The minister also blasted BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia saying it is painful for her to witness good relations between Bangladesh and India.
“She (Khaleda) has no headache over the Teesta water sharing deal but she is concerned about Indian PM Narendra Modi’s cordial relation with Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
Quader called upon his party men to strengthen Awami League for the sake of the country, its democracy and the spirit of the Liberation War.
He also termed a section of people who got an entry recently into Awami League as “poultry birds” and warned that stern action will be taken if anyone indulges in corruption using the party name.
