Tigers scored 95 losing one wicket at the end of the day. Earlier, riding on captain's knock century from Brendan Taylor Zimbabwe managed to score 389 by losing all ten. In the afternoon, Bangladeshi spinners hold the Zimbabwe run machine by taking wickets of Graeme Cremer and the skipper in consecutives overs. Earlier on the day the Bangladesh pacers earned occasions to celebrate by picking up two wickets. Zimbabwe started the day with 217 runs on scoreboard losing four wickets. Rubel Hossain earned Bangladesh the first breakthrough in the day in 92nd over, removing Elton Chigumbura. The fourth ball of the over pitched on middle and leg and saw Chigumbura lobbing an easy catch for the bowler. He scored 12 off 33 balls. Robiul, the other pacer who brought breakthrough for the visitors on the first day, picked up R Mutumbami in the 95th over. A good length ball on the off, the third delivery moved away after pitching, having an outside edge and resting in the gloves of the wicketkeeper, Mushfiqur Rahim. Mutumbami scored 11 runs off 13 balls. Earlier on Wednesday, Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and sent the hosts to bat. Zimbabwea lost opener Vusi Sibanda in the first ball of ninth over. He missed to defend a yorker to see the middle stump dislodged. Sibanda managed to score 5 off 21 balls. Robiul hit again the 15th over. His fourth ball in the over saw Maruma’s leg before the wicket, seeing off the opener returning on 10 off 46 balls. Spinner Enamul Haque picked up the wicket of Hamilton Masakadza in the 40th over. His second ball in the over pitched on the off side, took inwards turn and caught the outside edge of Masakadza’s bat before finding its place in the hands of Mahmudullah at slip. Masakadza hit two boundaries to score 25 off 100 balls. The fourth wicket stand between Malcom Waller and Taylor frustrated the Bangladeshi players. Rubel brought a sigh of relief for the visitors in the 82nd over, bowling Waller and ending a 127-run partnership. The middle order batsman scored 55 off 138 balls, hitting three boundaries. Both the teams started the Test in contrasting moods as Bangladesh had two good test series against West Indies and Sri Lanka in the past six months, while Zimbabwe have had five consecutive losses in Tests. Zimbabwe’s last success in Tests came in August 2011 when they beat Bangladesh in a one-off Test match.
