TikTok adds voice messages and polls to comment sections

TikTok is expanding its comment system with voice recordings, polls, and richer photo options as the platform seeks to make conversations beneath videos more interactive.

The company is introducing voice comments that allow users to record an audio response of up to one minute. Other additions include polls, photo carousels, and support for Live Photo comments.

TikTok says more than 1.7 billion comments are posted on the platform each day, making comment sections an increasingly important part of how users interact with creators and one another.

Voice comments can be recorded by tapping the microphone in the comment box. Once published, other users can play the recording directly from the discussion.

The company says audio responses will be governed by the same community standards as other TikTok content. Moderation will include automated systems and speech-to-text technology alongside human review.
