The Gournadi Agailjhara-Poisharhat road turns into a thick muddy field for lack of repair during the rainy season disrupting vehicular movement. This photo was taken on Saturday. Photo: Focus Bangla Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said on Saturday rain is the biggest hurdle to continuing repair work of dilapidated roads and highways.  He said the road maintenance works would still continue in a possible pace amid the downpour. The minister was talking to media men after visiting the dilapidated Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Chandana intersection and Bhogra bypass in Gazipur Sadar upazila. "Now we have to concentrate on three works -- filling up the potholes, repairing cracks on road and to pump and drain out stagnant rainwater on roads," the minister said adding that the three works will get most priority in the next three months. The ministry will arrange a meeting on Sunday to sort out ways for keeping vehicular movement smooth during the rainy season and upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, reports our Gazipur correspondent. The communications ministry is passing better times regarding neutrality and pace of works comparing to previous years, Obaidul stated. Saying that it was not possible to change 16 years' condition in 16 months, the minister said he needs more time for bringing a change.
