The results of the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JnUCSU) and hall students’ union elections were officially announced yesterday, with the Islami Chhatra Shibir and Chhatri Sangstha-backed panel “Odommo Jobian Oikya” winning most posts, including the top three positions.

National Citizen Party and Islami Andolan Bangladesh yesterday told the Election Commission that a level playing field remains absent in the country ahead of the February 12 polls, citing poor law and order and preferential treatment for some political parties.

The BNP is likely to focus on messages that ensure homes for slum dwellers and security for all in Dhaka-17, from which party acting chairman Tarique Rahman is running.

Despite submitting nomination papers, the party remains short of election-ready structures, with crucial tasks, such as strategy-setting and manifesto drafting, either stalled or unfinished.
