Photo: PID A red carpet reception was accorded to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after she arrived in Thailand yesterday to attend the Second Asia Pacific Water Summit. A special flight of Biman carrying the premier and members of her entourage landed at Chiang Mai International Airport at 1:50 pm (local time). Ms Sam Sanee, a minister attached to the Thai Prime Minister's Office, and Kazi Imtiaz Hossain, Bangladesh ambassador to Thailand, received Hasina at the airport. After a warm reception, the premier was taken to Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi, where she will stay during her two-day official visit. The two-day high-level segment of the summit will be held at Chiang Mai today and tomorrow. Hasina will address the opening session of the summit today at Chiang Mai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Prior to her address, she will attend a working breakfast of the summit. She will also hold bilateral talks with her Thai counterpart Yingluck Shinawatra today. Hasina is scheduled to return home tomorrow. MEET WITH S KOREA PM Dhaka and Seoul yesterday discussed ways of resolving the problems related to Korean Export Processing Zone to accelerate Korean investment in Bangladesh. During a meeting with her South Korean counterpart Jung Hong-won at Chiang Mai, Hasina said Bangladesh was trying to solve the issue considering the interest of both countries. Briefing reporters after the meeting at Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi, PM's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad said South Korea expressed keen interest to invest more in Bangladesh. Hasina urged the Korean leader to invest in textile, jute, infrastructure, power, energy, ICT, leather, deep-sea fishing and shipbuilding sectors of her country. In his reply, Jung said Bangladesh has immense opportunities for business promotion with South Korea. Hasina invited the Korean premier to visit Bangladesh and Jung graciously accepted the invitation, saying he would make the visit at a convenient time. Water Resources Minister Ramesh Chandra Sen, Foreign Minister Dipu Moni, among others, were present on the occasion. Later, the premier joined a dinner hosted by Thai premier and enjoyed a cultural function at Wiang Kum Kam historical site.
