Parents, kid killed in Chapainawabganj fire
Three members of a family were burnt alive in a fire at their residence while they were asleep early on Friday in Gomostapur upazila of Chapainawabganj.
Deceased are: Durul Huda, 30, of Digha village, his wife Maksuda Khatun, 25, and their daughter Sonia, 4, reports our Chapainawabganj correspondent quoting Badrul Rashid, officer-in-charge of Gomostapur Police Station.
It was not clear how the fire started, but it might be originated from a mosquito coil around 1:30am and soon it engulfed the first floor of the earthen house where they were sleeping, Rashid said.
On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the fire, the police official added.
Two other family members -- mother of Huda and other daughter Fulki -- sleeping on the ground floor were unhurt, Moazzem Hosssain, chairman of Parbatipur Upazila Parishad, said.
