Pak PM places wreaths at National Memorial at Savar
Visiting Prime Minister of Pakistan Mohammad Nawaz Sharif yesterday placed wreaths at the National Memorial at Savar, reports BSS.
After placing the wreaths, Sharif stood in solemn silence when the bugle of Bangladesh army played the last post and the national flag was lowered half-mast.
Foreign Minister Abdus Samad Azad and members of Sharif's entourage accompanied him in the helicopter which carried him here.
The Pakistani premier signed the visitors' book.
"My prayer and best wishes are with the government and fraternal people of Bangladesh for success in their endeavours to build a peaceful and prosperous country, he wrote in the book.
"May the brotherly ties between the peoples of Pakistan and Bangladesh continue to expand in the coming years," Sharif added.
He planted a sapling in the adjoining garden of the memorial.
Earlier, on arrival at the helipad at Savar the Pakistani prime minister was received by the Minister for Post, Telecommunications, Housing and Works Mohammad Nasim.
High Civil and military officials were present on the occasion.
