Muhith proposes spl incentives for SMEs

Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Thursday proposed increasing small enterprises' investment ceiling for plant, machineries and equipment to Tk 40 lakh.
Currently, the government does not allow investment of more than Tk 25 lakh for plant, machineries and equipment.
In his budget speech, Muhith also proposed continuation of the tax exemption facilities for small and cottage industries.
"Considering the importance of this sector, I also propose to increase the annual turnover from existing Tk 40 lakh to Tk 60 lakh," said the finance minister.
Apart from this, he proposed to vest the power to allow this facility in the divisional officer in place of divisional commissioner, Muhith said expressing hope that the measures would give a boost to this sector.
