Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Saturday termed the present moment as the high time to impose ban on the politics of Jamaat-e-Islami which committed crimes against humanity during the country's Liberation War in 1971.
"It is high time to ban, rein in and abandon the extremist and militant group Jamaat and war criminals for the sake of the continuation of the country's democratic, constitutional and electoral process," he said at a meeting of his party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), in the capital.
Addressing the programme of the JSD national committee at Shaheed Col Taher Auditorium, Inu also called upon BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to sever ties with Jamaat and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, and Hefajat-e Islam for the sake of democracy.
