Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal was visibly irked this afternoon as two cabinet members were seen standing and talking while an MP was delivering her speech at the parliament this afternoon.

Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad and State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam were engaged in a side conversation while BNP MP Selina Sultana was speaking during a discussion on an emergency public importance cancellation notice.

Selina had begun addressing the misuse of religion when the two ministers’ conversation drew the deputy speaker’s attention.

“Honourable Religious Affairs Minister and Honourable LGRD State Minister, please sit down and speak quietly. Someone behind you is delivering a speech,” Kamal said.

As the MP continued, the deputy speaker repeated his warning, asking the ministers to lower their voices so that her speech could be heard clearly.
