Youth’s mutilated body found in Madaripur riverbank

Police recovered the mutilated body of a young man from a riverbank in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Shuhin Sardar, 27, of Uttar Saheberampur Sardar Bari area in the upazila, said Zahurul Alam, officer-in-charge of Kalkini Police Station.

The OC said locals informed police around 4:30pm after spotting a body in the Saheberampur Launch Terminal area.

He said the victim had severe stab wounds on his abdomen inflicted by a sharp weapon. There were also injuries to his eyes, and it appeared that attempts had been made to gouge them out.

After completing the inquest, police sent the body to Madaripur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, he added.

“A case is being prepared in connection with the incident. Primarily, it appears to be a murder,” the OC said.

Police are investigating the incident and trying to identify and arrest those involved.
