Madrasa teacher sent to jail over rape of class 2 student in Ctg

A Chattogram court today sent a madrasa teacher on charges of allegedly raping a male student in Boalkhali upazila of Chattogram.

The teacher, Aziz Ullah, 22, was arrested from the madrasa on Saturday night, said police.

According to police and family members, the boy is a class two student of a residential madrasa in the upazila. The teacher had allegedly been sexually abusing the eight-year-old for a year. The matter came to light on Saturday after the victim fell ill and complained of pain. Later, he disclosed the matter to his family members.

Md Sirajul Islam, additional superintendent (crime and operations) of police in Chattogram, told The Daily Star that after learning about the incident, police detained Aziz Ullah on Saturday night and took him to the police station.

As the victim's family has not lodged any case or written complaint so far, police produced him before the court under Section 54 of the CrPC today. Later, the court sent him to jail, added the police official.
