Dismembered body parts of woman found in Dhaka's Sabujbag
Police recovered the severed head and two hands of an unidentified woman from Dhaka’s Sabujbagh area this morning.
The body parts were found around 8:00am beneath a culvert beside a canal at Madartek Baganbari, said Sub-Inspector Nure Alam Siddique of Sabujbagh Police Station.
Acting on information, police recovered the severed head and two hands from a shopping bag left on a pile of garbage beneath the culvert, the officer said.
The remaining parts of the body have not yet been found, and police are searching the surrounding areas.
The victim's identity could not be established immediately, but police said she was about 20 years old. They have informed the Criminal Investigation Department's forensic team to assist in identifying her.
The recovered body parts are being sent to the morgue at Dhaka Medical College for an autopsy.
Investigators are also collecting CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify those involved.
The SI said police suspect the woman was killed elsewhere before her body was dismembered and the severed parts were dumped at the spot in an attempt to conceal the crime.
