The government also took steps to form a committee for looking into the CNG owners' eight-point demand which includes increasing margin for CNG owners and lowering government tariff. The owners went on an indefinite strike at 6:00am Friday protesting alleged harassment of their fellow by a mobile court magistrate Raza Md Abdul Hai at a CNG filling station of Sobhanighat in Sylhet on Thursday morning. The government assurance came at a meeting with CNG owners' association leaders with Prime Minister's Power and Energy Affairs Adviser Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury and Petrobangla Chairman Dr Hossain Mansur in the morning held at Petrobangla office in the capital. Zakir Hossain Nayan, president of the CNG filling station owners' association, said they withdrew the strike at 2:00pm after Tawfiq-E-Elahi assured that the government will withdraw Executive Magistrate Raza Md Abdul Hai who was fining CNG stations illegally. He, for instance, mentioned that the magistrate on May 22 took away a gas meter from a CNG station for testing but he did not sent it Petrobangla office for the test.
