Chumki sworn in as state minister

Lawmaker Meher Afroz Chumki has been sworn in as the state minister for women and children affairs.
President Abdul Hamid administered the oath to Chumki at Bangabhaban on Sunday afternoon.
Chumki, who has been elected parliament member from Gazipur-5 constituency, served as the president of the parliamentary standing committee on the same ministry until she took oath as the state minister.
The position of the state minister fell vacant after Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was sworn in as the Speaker of the House on April 30.
