BSF detains 31 Bangladeshis in Chapainawabganj

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) detained 31 Bangladeshi cattle traders on Gomostapur frontier of Chapainawabganj district Tuesday. The Indian border troops of Pilason camp in Maldah district in Pashchimbanga detained them when they were returning home with a consignment of cattle crossing the Bibhison bordering area in the upazila around 4:00am, reports our Chapainawabganj correspondent quoting Lt Col Mahmudul Kabir, commanding officer of 43 Battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). The detainees hail from different upazilas of Chapainawabganj, the BGB official added. Immediately after the arrest, the BSF members handed over the Bangladeshi nationals to Hobipur police in Maldah, he added. BGB sent letters to its Indian counterpart seeking their release.
